Peter Bastone
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Bastone is responsible for the overall management and strategic planning at SVHsupport. His career spans more than three decades of financial and operations management and he has lead healthcare systems that are mission-focused. Mr. Bastone transforms health systems into nationally recognized health access and service organizations. He has delivered over a quarter of a billion dollars in total financial turnarounds in his career, while energizing and rejuvenating the spirit of organizations and communities. He is very proficient in creating strong physician and clinical Provider partnerships to drive clinical integration and collaboration with key stakeholders, to achieve broad community health goals and objectives.

Prior to SVHsupport, Bastone served as CEO and president for Chesapeake Regional Healthcare, a 362-bed hospital, where he was instrumental in leading a $30 million turnaround of the organization enhancing the quality of care, access to care, meeting community needs.

Bastone graduated with honors and received his Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Princeton University. He also received his masters of public health and corporate management from the University of California, Berkeley and his master of theology in healthcare mission from the Aquinas Institute of Theology. Bastone also received his certification in healthcare and business innovation from Harvard Business School.

Jerry Jones
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Jones is responsible for directing the accounting, financial analysis and administrative functions of SVHsupport and oversees an extensive investment portfolio which includes several Medical Office Buildings. Mr. Jones also administers the organization’s strategic grantmaking and impact investing initiatives. Previously, Mr. Jones served as the Interim President and CEO of the Santa Fe Community Foundation, the largest community foundation in the New Mexico. Mr. Jones has also served as the Vice President of Finance and Operations for Packard’s Enterprises, a holding company with numerous operating entities and real estate investments across four western states. Earlier in his career, Mr. Jones was in public accounting where he served as Partner and led the firm’s business consulting and outsourcing practice. Mr. Jones is a graduate of the University of New Mexico, is a licensed CPA in the state, and brings more than 25 years of business and nonprofit leadership experience to the organization.

Terry Warrington
Executive Assistant
Ms. Warrington is responsible for managing governance duties and all daily operational, administrative and human resource functions. Prior to joining SVHsupport, she held executive assistant and management positions for commercial and non-profit organizations in the related healthcare field. Ms. Warrington earned her BFA degree from the University of Hawaii, in her home state of Hawaii. She is a member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals and the Society for Corporate Governance.

Tendai Shereni
Financial Analyst
Tendai Shereni is responsible for the financial and investment analysis at SVHsupport. He has financial and real estate experience including careers with Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank in New York City, and Gemini Rosemont Realty in Santa Fe.  Prior to joining SVHsupport, Tendai worked for Thornburg Investments Management in their institutional group where he was a portfolio specialist.  Additionally, Tendai was also founder of Bluesky Enterprises in Harare, Zimbabwe.  Mr. Shereni holds a BA degree with a concentration in finance from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.

Phillip Valencia
Financial Analyst
Mr. Valencia is responsible for accounting and financial analysis. He is a native of Santa Fe New Mexico and graduate of St. Michael’s High School. Mr. Valencia earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of New Mexico’s Anderson School of Management. Prior to joining SVHsupport, Mr. Valencia was a part of the Santa Fe Opera for four seasons, three as an Usher and one as a business office intern.

Earl Potter
Chairman of the Board
Mr. Potter has served as Santa Fe County Attorney, Staff Attorney for the Legal Aid Society of Albuquerque and as the first Director of Northern New Mexico Legal Services. Mr. Potter ran his private law practice for over 20 years and now serves as a consultant. Mr. Potter has served as State Resolutions Committee Chairman and State Finance Chairman. Mr. Potter was Chairperson of the New Mexico Democratic Party from 1995-1997. Mr. Potter earned his BA in History with honors from Yale University. He earned his Law degree at Stanford University.

Charles Goodman
Vice Chairman of the Board
Mr. Goodman has been in the securities industry since 1986. His decades of financial experience include careers with Paine Webber, Smith Barney, Morgan Stanley and LPL Financial, a financial consulting practice. He has the CIMA (Certified Investment Management Analyst) designation from the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA). Additionally, Mr. Goodman has a background in the the real estate and oil and gas industry, as well as ownership of several local businesses. His educational background includes two engineering degrees from New Mexico Tech in mining and petroleum. Charles is married to his wife, Diane, and has two sons who actively run the other family businesses. Since his move to Santa Fe in 1982, he has served locally as Board Chair of SVH Foundation, the Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and Eagle Scouts.

Karen S. Wells, RN, MPA
Board Member

Karen Wells is a health policy and planning consultant dedicated to the development of an integrated comprehensive system of healthcare services.  Ms. Wells has worked for the New Mexico Legislative Council Service, the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department, the Department of Clinical Affairs at Presbyterian Medical Services, the National and New Mexico Associations for Home Care, and the Santa Fe Visiting Nurse Service.  Ms. Wells served as past President of the Santa Fe Rotary Club, director on the St. Vincent Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees, and past President and Board member of New Mexico Health Decisions.  She earned a nursing degree and a BA in Public Administration from the College of Santa Fe, and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from the University of New Mexico.

David Gonzales, MD
Board Member
Dr. Gonzales has been a member of the Medical Staff at CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center since 1994 and is a native of Santa Fe. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and currently serves as the Vice President of Clinical Affairs at Presbyterian Medical Services, and is responsible for the clinical care at 40 Community Health Centers statewide. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University, he graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Gonzales has spent the better part of the last 20 years as a Hospitalist Physician and is responsible for developing several Hospitalist programs throughout the country. As former Chief Medical Officer of the Heart Hospital of New Mexico and Chief of Staff of UNM/Sandoval Regional Medical Center, Dr. Gonzales’ expertise is in inpatient operational processes as they pertain to quality and patient satisfaction. He is proud to be an active member of the Santa Fe community along with his wife and 2 children.

Joel Rosen, MD
Board Member
Y. Joel Rosen, MD, FHM, FAAFP is a board-certified family physician and hospitalist. He was born in Israel and before moving to the US, spent 3 years in the Israeli military as a tank commander. Dr. Rosen is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley (B.S. in Molecular and Cell Biology) and earned his M.D. from a Columbia University-affiliated international medical school in Israel. After completing his residency in Family Medicine at the University of New Mexico, Dr. Rosen moved to the Navajo Nation with his wife and son, where he spent 3 years providing primary and emergency room care for the Indian Health Service in the town of Kayenta. In 2008, Dr. Rosen moved to Santa Fe and joined the Christus St. Vincent Medical Staff as a hospitalist for La Familia Medical Center. In 2010, he joined the CSVRMC Hospitalist Program, serving as Medical Director from 2012 to 2016. Dr. Rosen has enjoyed the past 9 years providing clinical care at CSVRMC hospital, holding various leadership roles, and working on numerous committees to improve quality of care at the hospital. He lives in Santa Fe with his wife and 4 children.

Melvin Goering
Board Member
Mr. Goering was CEO of Prairie View, a psychiatric hospital and community mental health center in Kansas. He was an active member of the Governor’s Mental Health Services Planning Council, The Children’s Hospital Task Force, The Advisory Committee on Kansas Health Ethics and Chair of the Consortium Board of the Association of Community Mental Health Centers. Mr. Goering served as President of the Newton Rotary, Newton Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the Board of Bethel College in Kansas. Mr. Goering was a Rhodes scholarship finalist and recipient of a Danforth Graduate Fellowship. He holds advance degrees from Vanderbilt and Harvard University, was professor of philosophy and an academic administrator. Mr. Goering and his wife have been associated with Santa Fe since 1974 and fulltime residents for 16 years.
