In 2009, SVHsupport partnered with CHRISTUS Health to contribute to the over $16 million project for new and expanded surgery rooms at CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center. The project provided patients and their families with improved efficiency and comfort combined with state-of-the-art technology. The expansion and remodeling increased the number of operating rooms and provided the capacity to accept emergency trauma cases and to accommodate the increase in the number of surgeries.
The new Operating Rooms feature new equipment booms mounted in the rooms allowing for efficient placement of surgical equipment, better use of space, and a more organized work area for surgeons and staff. In addition, the operating rooms have increased flexibility and specialization. For example, three operating rooms are equipped with endoscopic equipment and a fourth set of the equipment will be mobile. New surgical lights have been added and surgeons have the ability to display critical patient vital signs, x-rays, or imagery on conveniently located ceiling-mounted monitors.
